In this work, published 1878 in only 200 copies and thus very rare, Crollalanza examines the heraldic typicalities of the coats of arms of several families belonging to the Guelph or the Ghibelline factions, and as a proof for his thesis he add in the appendix the blazons of as many as 354 coats of arms of Medieval families of different standing, from all over the Italian Peninsula.
